At TSS we believe that every career pause, whether planned or unexpected, is an opportunity for growth and redefinition. Today, we share the uplifting story of Faiza Ali, who joined our Work Experience Program during a time when re-entering the workforce seemed like a distant dream.

The Challenge

Many face significant challenges when trying to re-enter the workforce after a prolonged break. The gap in their CV can be daunting, leading to decreased confidence and missed opportunities. Recognising this, we at TSS have committed to providing practical work experience opportunities designed to bridge this gap for individuals like Faiza.

The Experience Provided

Our Work Experience Programme working alongside Starts With You (SWY) a social enterprise based in Bolton, providing property services to ethical landlords and housing associations including Bolton At Home targets individuals looking to dust off their skills and step back into their careers with renewed vigor. The programme provides a mix of on-the-job training, mentorship, and skill enhancement tailored to prepare participants for today’s dynamic job market.

Faiza’s Journey

Faiza joined our work experience programme in February 2024, after a career break. With a background in finance she was eager to update her skills and regain some confidence in the working environment.

Over the two-week course of the programme, Faiza worked in a variety of departments, including; Finance, Marketing, Business Development and Quantity Surveying, where she tackled a range of projects provided with guidance and support, helping her to navigate the complexities of modern practices.

The Outcome

Commenting on her work experience, Faiza said:

“During my work placement, I had the invaluable opportunity to immerse myself in a dynamic environment, where I was able to apply my skills and contribute meaningfully to the team.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such a vibrant workplace, and I am confident that the lessons learned and connections made will continue to positively influence my future endeavors”
