We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in the commercial delivery of infrastructure projects. You will provide expertise in cost control, financial management and contract administration throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring value for money, client satisfaction and the successful delivery of projects within budget.
Working closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers, you will manage commercial issues, develop strong client relationships and provide the insight needed to deliver projects efficiently and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate project cost estimates, evaluating drawings, labour, materials, equipment and site conditions.
- Monitor and control project budgets, maintain cost reporting systems, and produce forecasts, cash-flow projections and profitability analysis.
- Administer contracts, ensuring compliance with all contractor and sub-contractor terms, managing claims and disputes as required.
- Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimisation without compromising quality or project objectives.
- Assess commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support tendering and procurement, including preparing documentation, evaluating suppliers, and liaising with clients on commercial matters.
- Conduct cost analysis, benchmarking and market research to ensure competitiveness and identify improvement opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and HSEQ commitments through inspections, performance checks and sub-contractor oversight.
- Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, providing commercial guidance and insight throughout the project.

Essential:
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Expertise in cost estimation, budgeting and commercial management.
- Knowledge of construction practices, infrastructure delivery and industry standards.
- Proficiency in contract law and commercial administration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with clients and project teams.
- Highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- IT literate, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Commitment to continual professional development and keeping up to date with industry trends.
Desirable:
- Full UK driving licence.
- Knowledge of sustainable construction practices.
- Experience on infrastructure projects.
- Negotiation skills and familiarity with cost benchmarking and value optimisation.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- Previous experience in quantity surveying within a professional environment.
- Infrastructure project experience.
- Experience implementing health and safety protocols.
- Proven experience in cost estimation, budgeting, and stakeholder management.
Desirable:
- Professional membership with Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or equivalent.
- Desire to become chartered (MRICS or APM).
- Consultancy experience and familiarity with commercial management software.
- Leadership or team management experience.
